Daikin to build largest AC factory in Vietnam
1st August, 2016 Daikin Vietnam has just signed a land lease agreement with the Thang Long Industrial Zone 2 to start construction of the largest air conditioner factory in Vietnam.
In recent years, Demand for air conditioners in Viet Nam has experienced rapid growth centering particularly on residential-use air conditioners due to the country's remarkable economic development and expanding middle class. Because demand is expected to continue growing in Viet Nam, Daikin is increasing its capacity to supply products with the establishment of a new factory and local production to further accelerate business expansion.
The construction will be invested at a total cost of JPY 10 billion (US$ 93.6 million) As expected, the factory will be put into operation in April 2018 with the estimated output of about 500,000 air conditioners in 2018 and up to 1 million ones in 2020. It will provide jobs for approximately 500 local people in the first years and up to 1,500 people at the maximum.
Daikin has made strengthening the air conditioning business in the rapidly growing market of Asia an important measure in its strategic management plan Fusion 20 and will aim for 380 billion yen in sales for Asia in 2018 as it works to further expand business in every country beginning with Viet Nam.
